Job Purpose
The primary responsibilities of this position include the development of new products for use in automotive applications as well as supporting the production and sales teams with technical expertise for ongoing projects. These new products will be targeted to fulfill the compressed air requirements of electric and hybrid commercial vehicles. Additional responsibilities include maintaining existing transportation products and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Job Functions/Duties
- Convert customer requirements into product designs
- Participate in new product development activities (component design and/or selection, fabrication, testing, )
- Support production and sales for day-to-day technical needs
- Troubleshoot production issues on the floor as needed
- Support sales and technical services in answering technical questions
- Create documentation of new designs including 3D models, drawings, bills of material, and other technical information
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience Required
- A bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline is required
- 4-8 years of relevant experience
- Experience creating designs in 3D CAD; Solid Edge preferred
- A technical aptitude for engineered systems allowing the person to quickly grasp the product designs and the applications of the products
- Project management skills necessary to scope out and execute medium to high-complexity projects
- The ability to work with other team members and support a positive work culture
- The skills to prioritize work assignments and meet design deadlines
- skills necessary to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Experience with FMEA, DVP&R, and GD&T preferred
